So my wife is having a total hysterectomy and I wondering. What is sex like after a total hysterectomy?
Better sex life, worse sex life, no sex life?
Does it feel better, does it feel worse?
Would like some feed back from people that have gone through it.|||It was better actually.|||I know a lady who had a hysterectomy and said that sex was never the same since the cervix and uterus experience contractions during orgasm; now that those organs were gone, she did not have the fully satisfying orgasms that she used to.
The worst problem is the hormonal problems which may or may not be resolved with medications or supplements, and the shock of knowing that even if you didn't want any more children, you can no longer have them. Even though our gonads are hidden, they are still an essential part of womanhood, just as testicles are important for a man to feel manly...
In some ways sex can be better, since there is definitely no worry about pregnancy, no periods to deal with, none of that.
Be a good patient man, let her heal, love and support her, and all will be well.|||After a total hysterectomy, she'll need hormones. I had a hysterectomy at the age of 21, but kept my ovaries...once the healing is done, if she responds well to the hormones, it will be fine.
I will warn you she may grieve a bit (imagine if YOU lost your testicles!) or feel different or undesirable. If you can get through that, the sex is pretty darned good. As for feeling? She will be tighter because of the way things are stitched up after and so you'll both feel more in some ways.
Make sure to be supportive and don't let her get into the "I'm not womanly" slump.|||She'll still have a vagina, she only loses her ovaries and uterus, which, hopefully, you aren't fiddling with during sex anyway. The main problem she may have is dryness and hot flashes, both of which can be helped by OTC products.|||Based upon the fact my wife was living with a lot of pain beforehand, she wants it a LOT more now.|||My friend had one. She said that (after healing, of course) sex was just the same.
