How important is it to have sex on the day of ovulation?

It is really important to actually have sex on the day?

Are chances reduced if a couple have sex the two days before ovulation but not on the day itself?

I know that sperm are meant to live for a few days etc but is conception more likely to occur if the swimmers don't have to hang around for a few days??|||We are ttc also, and we do BD every other day. If the sperms are in good shape, they could live inside you for a couple of days...

There's nothing much you can do now, your husband is away anyway. You must relax and just pray the sperms are hanging around when your egg is released...

Don't stress yourself too much. It will happen when it's meant to be.

God bless!|||I think you have more chance of falling pregnant if you have sex from about 2 days before you ovulate to the day you ovulate. There is a very small window of about 12-24 hours or so when you ovulate that the egg can be fertilised. After that it won't happen, so having sex after you've ovulated will be fruitless. So your best bet is go have lots of sex on the lead up to your ovulation, and on the day itself if you know when it is. I fell pregnant with my son when we had sex the day before I ovulated and I am just newly pregnant, which happened on the day I ovulated. I can feel when I ovulate which is a bonus. It bloody hurts every month but it's proved to be very helpful as we've only had sex once on both occasions and fell the first month of trying on both occasions!!! At least your hubby will get a bit of fun out of trying - my poor hubby missed out on that so he's a bit miffed!! One of those swimmers will get through somewhen! Have fun trying and good luck! x|||sperm can last for up to 5 days and eggs only last 1-2 so if you have had sex in the last 5 days there might still be some waiting if not try when hes home, but in my experience i was told you ovulate on day 14 of your cycle but after 5 months of trying i did a test and found out i was ovulating on day 19! i fell pregnant with my second a month later! p.s sperm lasts longer the less acidic you are down there so cut out vinegar, and citrus fruits. good luck|||I always remembered reading that you should have sex within 24 hours of ovulation.

They have little sticks that look like pregnancy tests that you pee on every week (I think...my boss used them) and when you get the ok on the stick, you have BD that day, or the next day and that's the only window of opportunity you have.

I also remember my boss had to BD for a few months before she actually conceived. But she said the sticks do work. Good luck!|||hi i tried that last month, it made no change my period still come, but i hear what your saying, just try as much as you can, its hard when partner works away, mine works off shore so i have to grab every moment, even when i cant be botherd lol|||I think you answered your own question.

Do what the Doctor sais and all should go

to plan.

Have fun....and all the best.|||I'd just do it every day to be on the safe side (and the fun side)...

Good luck with the conception!
