What is the difference between having sex addiction and simply having poor character?

tiger woods is rumored to have sex addiction. what is the difference between being a sex addict and simply being a man of poor character who doesn't value fidelity?|||Thin line....... It seems that Tiger Woods has about as many mistresses as Al Qaeda has No. 2's|||Sex addiction is being completely unable to control your sexual behavior, and there are many groups completely dedicated to helping the sexually addicted (the groups are very similar to alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous).

Fidelity would assume some sort of loyalty to someone. If someone is in a relationship and cannot remain loyal to their partner (cheating, etc) and is a sex addict and does not get the satisfaction they need within their own relationship, they might need help. If they get plenty of sexual satisfaction out of their own relationship, and still cheat, they probably don't value their relationship. The real question to ask someone in this situation is if they really are satisfied.

For those whom are not in a monogamous relationship, it is usually considered sexual exploration (on the path to a monogamous relationship through experimentation) or self-gain through pleasure without the consideration of others (ie: being a whore or man-whore)|||Addiction involves compulsions, and it interferes greatly with your life. Sex addicts often try to control their impulses and sexual activities but fail. They feel preoccupied with sex and it distracts them from important things in their lives. Sex addiction usually isn't limited to sexual activities with people one considers attractive, people who a sex addicted person wouldn't otherwise wouldn't be attracted to are used for sex in desperation. Sometimes excessive masturbation and pornography use are involved.

If a person makes the conscious choice to have sex with someone, without feeling an overwhelming compulsion that they try to avoid, they are just making a poor choice.|||Yeah I think sex addiction is like any other addiction, it's something that's constantly on your mind. I don't know enough to judge Mr. Woods but with every activity, I see a difference between addiction and hobby.
