I have a juvenile conviction of a sex offense, class C felony in Oregon State, sex offender registration. I'm 30 years old now, and still have to register. I don't have any other convictions. This was a behavioral problem that I got help for. Unfortunately, I have not found an avenue of relief from sex offender registration. I am able bodied and want to contribute. I searched the web on this topic and didn't find much information.|||Yeah you can't join. They don't care about that law about whatever happened before you were 18 gets scratched off. They want records from your entire life. And if they see that, then they will DQ you right at MEPS.|||I highly doubt that you could.|||Your problem is probably insoluble, unless you find other ways to contribute. And there are other ways to contribute, much better ways. Contrary to popular belief, being in the armed forces is *not* serving your country, it is doing a disservice to it.
That statement will doubtless draw a lot of flak from people who *do* believe they are, or have, served their country. As a note to such people: I respect you and your ideal of selfless service and sacrifice for your country. But the idea of it doesn't make it so.
In the end, you will find that your government has betrayed that sacrifice.
Anyway, find other ways to contribute to society - there are many of them. Many of the problems we face, environmentally, socially and economically, aren't solved by military force.|||I'm not a lawyer, but I thought that once you turned 18 the record got expunged? Maybe you should consult someone, but that don't sound right to me...
